Scarecrows in Baan Buay

One interesting thing that we've noticed in our village and other nearby villages has been that almost every house has made a scarecrow from straw, and then dressed it up. In our village, we have rice farmer, soldier, and even one superman scarecrow. We call them scarecrows, but the villagers believe that they keep out ghost (most likely this refers to ancestral spirits, or dead relatives). Here are a couple of examples of the ones that we've seen.
